Joe Hutchins

Head Coach

Joe Hutchins is a 1981 graduate of Kelseyville High School in California. He bypassed the 1981 draft and played two all-conference seasons at Mendocino Community College in Ukiah, California. He hit .357 while setting records in hits at 104 and at bats at 309. Coach Hutchins came to Mobile in 1984 to play baseball at the University of South Alabama. Under the direction of Steve Kittrell, he was nicknamed "Hustlin Hutch" for his style of play/work ethic. Earning a starting spot in both 1985 and 1986, he became labeled as a defensive specialist while compiling a modest career batting average of .343. In 1987, Hutch worked as a student assistant for the Jaguars. He has a B.S. in psychology and a M.A. in education. 

This is Coach Hutch’s seventh year as head coach of the Trojans, bringing with him a record of 127-61 and two consecutive area 3 titles.  He has been coaching at Daphne High School for 10 years and has been a part of three straight trips to the state championships and consecutive state titles in 2001 and 2002.

During Hutch’s tenure, Trojan Baseball has won 20 + games every year and reached post season in 5 of the six years. In 2004 they won the Hank Aaron Classic and were ranked #1 in the state before injuries slowed their season. The 2006 team was also ranked #1 in the state and went on a 27 game win streak and was nationally ranked finishing the season at 31-5and capturing the title in the Nike Gulf-Coast Classic. 2007 was another successful year for the Trojans as they were also ranked nationally and finished 29-11.
Several players have benefitted from Daphne Baseball and currently 14 players are playing college baseball. The most recognized player from this era is West Virginia Quarterback Patrick White who traded a fourth round selection from the Anaheim Angels to become arguably the greatest college football quarterback in history. Coach Hutchins and his wife Tammy have three children, Dianne, Mason and Hannah.

Keith Graham

Varsity Pitching Coach

Keith Graham is beginning his ninth year coaching at Daphne High School. He earned his B.S. degree from Troy State University where he played baseball from 1991 - 1995.

He also served as an undergraduate assistant coach in 1996. Coach Graham has been a JV and assistant coach at Daphne since 1998 and begins his third season as the Trojan's pitching coach. He currently teaches at Stapleton Elementary School. Keith is married to the former Amy Jerkins and has one daughter, Haven.

Mike Harrell

Asst. Varsity Coach

Mike Harrell is a 1990 graduate of Bainbridge High School. He played for two years at L.B. Wallace, Jr. College for Steve Helms and then continued his career at the University of Mobile where he was an all-conference third baseman and a recipient of the John Snyder award.

He played one year of independent ball for the Portsmont Explorers, a Cincinnati Reds affiliate and for the past four years, has played for the Thomasville Travelers - the 2002 U.S.B.C. Semi-Pro World Series Champions!! As head coach at Escambia Academy, he led their team to a 19 and 7 record and the school's first final four appearance.

He now teaches physical education at Daphne North Elementary. He married Alecia Floyd during the Summer of 2006. Coach Harrell will oversee the Junior Varsity and assist Varsity.
