This week's Baldwin baseball schedule features intriguing non-area matchups to start the week followed by huge series with playoff implications.

The action starts tonight as Baldwin County heads to Fairhope for a 6:30 p.m. showdown, while Robertsdale hosts Southside, Tenn., at 6:30 p.m. In addition, Spanish Fort welcomes LeFlore at 4 p.m. and St. Paul's at 6:30 on the "Hill" at home.

There's no contests on tap for Wednesday but the games pick back up Thursday as Baldwin County visits Spanish Fort for a 6 p.m. contest and Robertsdale welcomes Foley for 6A Area 3 showdown at 6 p.m.

Area action continues Friday night as BCHS visits Satsuma for a 6A Area 4 battle at 6:30 p.m., while Foley hosts Robertsdale in a doubleheader starting at 4:30 p.m. In addition, Bayside Academy travels to Cottage Hill Christian Academy for a 3A Area 1 doubleheader that starts at 4:30 p.m., while Spanish Fort welcomes Gulf Shores in a 5A Area 2 doubleheader on the "Hill" that's set to start at 4 p.m. One other huge matchup has Daphne heading to McGill-Toolen for a 6A Area 4 clash at 6:30 p.m.

Daphne coach Joe Hutchins said his team will have to be playing its best against the Yellow Jackets to have a chance to win.

"That game's part of an area series and it's very important," he said. "We're 2-1 in 6A Area 4 and we need to win to keep our playoff run going while McGill-Toolen has already been swept by Baldwin County and are 0-3. They need to win to be a part of the area race (down the stretch). They're going to want to climb back into it."

The area series continue for most teams Saturday as Daphne hosts McGill in a doubleheader starting at noon. Spanish Fort heads to Gulf Shores to take on the Dolphins at 1 p.m., while BCHS hosts Satsuma in a doubleheader starting at 11 a.m.
