Trojan Baseball Gets New Website 2011

The Trojan's Diamond Club introduced a new website this year for the baseball team and the community. The new site is developed with the top features of a high end social network site which can allow multiple users access to upload and create content for the website. Some of the capabilities include:

  • Instant Text Messaging
  • Parent/Player Login
  • Multi User Content Uploads
  • and much more...

The website will continue to grow and data will become easier to track which will make the site capable of tracking player and Alumni history. "In years past old data was cleaned out and new players where entered, but now we can just move the data to a new season while preserving the past data. In simple terms the site will now keep history of current and future seasons."

This baseball site is just a piece of a huge project taken on by Mobile Technical Institute and Webshot Hosting to start an integration of all the sports websites at Daphne High School. Each club will maintain and update their own sites in which select information from that club's site will then feed directly to a main DHS athletics website. The vision is to be able to visit one site and view all upcoming sports events at DHS and see outcomes / highlights of those events. If the visitor is interested in viewing more about a particular sport then they would be directed directly to the club's site.

Data integration is a very positive feature in the promotion of the school and the athletes. Many players are involved with multiple sports and the ability to search for a player on the main website which produces all the highlights of all the sports he/she participated with can be beneficial in promoting the student's demonstrated abilities.

The project was started at the beginning of the school year and could take up to 2 years to complete but in the past year the football and baseball teams have been integrated onto the same system. Has we all know volunteer work can some times be slow.
